David E. Kahn, CEO and member of the Board of Directors

David E. Kahn has more than 30 years of experience as a technology entrepreneur. David started his professional career as a nuclear physicist designing reactors for the U.S. Navy. After attending Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, David joined Quantex Corporation as Director of Marketing and was instrumental in creating the first medical digital radiographic system and selling the firm to Phillips Medical Systems. Later in his career he joined ADAC Laboratories a NASDAQ-listed medical firm and ran engineering for two of their four divisions. David’s restructuring of engineering processes eventually led to ADAC being the first medical company to earn the prestigious Malcolm Baldridge Award and eventual acquisition by Phillips Medical Systems.

David was the VP Sales & Marketing of National Nuclear Corporation (acquired by Thermo Electron Corp.) and the VP Engineering and later CEO of Orion Instruments the leading provider of ROM-based emulation devices and creator of the OmniLab universal test instrument. Prior to joining DARTdevices, David founded two venture capital funded payroll companies: InLeague and Perquest. David holds a BS in Physics from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an MS in Nuclear Science and Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University, and an MBA from Stanford University.

Dan Illowsky, Co-founder & CTO

Dan started his career by writing some early best selling video games for the original Apple II and IBM personal computers in the early 80's. Acting as a independent top-tier Silicon Valley consultant for more than 20 years, Dan worked on major projects with Intel (custom speech and handwriting chip), Microsoft (parts of the core Windows 95 OS), RSA (optimization of their BSAFE libraries), Xerox PARC (digital picture processing algorithms), Diva Systems (the first video on demand set-top-box), and Zoran (DSP audio and DVD playback software). In 2000 Dan co-founded Storymail, Inc. which created a new super-rich media format. Storymail was sold to Gemstar-TV Guide in 2002.

Bruce Bernstein, Engineering Vice President

Bruce Bernstein is the Engineering wizard at DARTDevices. An original member and builder of the engineering team, Bruce is credited with core engine development including communications, real-time data coordination, and power management.

Bruce brings a unique mix of engineering know-how, process design expertise, and complex system management to the Dart development team.

While at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Bruce designed leading edge instrumentation, embedded microprocessor-controlled test and data collection systems, and cross-discipline control technology. His research was noted and picked up by Macrodyne, Inc. which immediately applied the technology in industry and government. While still in academia, Bruce was also promoted to Vice-President of Engineering for Macrodyne.

During post-graduate studies, Bruce joined General Electric’s prestigious R&D Center, where he pioneered the use of advanced communication in industrial settings. His diverse achievements included design of CAD/CAM and manufacturing process systems, web-based data search and coordination systems, and network security for (TV Network) NBC’s media-delivery process.

Bruce has also held important positions at Storymail, Inc. where he enhanced the core engine by adding peripheral functions and multitasking capability, and released the Storymail Personal Publisher.

Ray Sidney, Ph.D., member of the Board of Directors

Ray Sidney received his bachelor's degree from Harvard University in mathematics and his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the field of cryptography. Before joining DARTdevices' Board of Directors, Ray worked in the software industry at Google, Inc., where he was the second engineer hired. Prior to his employment at Google, Ray worked at D. E. Shaw & Co., L.P. and RSA Labs. Ray is also a director of Hemedex, Inc.
