Are you frustrated by how hard it is to code for mobile phones? Other CE devices? Every one has a different OS, platform, specs, virtual environment, etc. Android and other Open OSes promise to help you, but in reality become just yet another target platform. Getting Started
We’ve written some starter Darts ourselves, but really we don’t expect to be anywhere as creative as the Independent Software Developer (ISV) community out there, so we’re opening up our development tools to you.
Qualified C++ ISVs can register to get free access to our SDK, and start coding Darts right away.
Some ideas might be things like Location Based Services Darts, camera sharing Darts, walkie-talkie Darts, multi-player games, and such. There really is no limit because Darts can reside on any kind of consumer electronic device, and can leverage the features of that device. This is a whole new playing field, so stake out some turf!
A Business Case
Granted, this might sound like fun for tinkerers and hobbyists, but what about actual businesses and a respectable ROI? Well, the business model is in its early stages, but will shake out like this: ISVs develop Darts, and post them to our site, aggregators’ sites like Handango, and your own sites to sell at market rates. Each Dart will have a different price based on the value it delivers. We’ll share almost all of the revenue with you, the portals might take a bigger cut, and you keep 100% of the revenues from your website sales, of course.
We are in discussions now with a number of device vendors, most notably mobile phone makers, and as embedded DartBoard environments proliferate, the market for your Darts will continue to grow.
