Dart in the PC

Key Benefits to PC vendors:

  • Offer new services and applications – content, apps, and multi-device multiplayer games that spread from device to device
  • Increase the utility of the PC
  • Reach into people’s homes by touching not just the office PC, but set top boxes, children’s toys, automobiles, and more. All can be Dart-enabled.
  • Benefit from viral marketing as apps spread freely from customers to friends of customers
  • Triple and quad play – share content and apps easily among the devices in the quad-play bundle
  • Bundle and sell Dart-enabled devices with the PC, such as a PC-camera bundle, or a PC-game device, or a PC-smartphone.

Adding the DartBoard to a PC enables that central device to function automatically as a part of the user’s Entourage of connected devices. Synchronization, information sharing, content manipulation, media management – all become simplified through the use of Darts.

Bundling the DartBoard is a trivially simple technological hurdle, which takes an insignificant amount of storage and negligible processor cycles. The DartBoard can be configured to autostart, or to run on request by the user. When running, user can:

  • Pull content off of mobile devices from the PC
  • Control media playback from a phone
  • Link the PC to a set-top box
  • Synchronize destination addresses from a web browser to an in car GPS device, using the mobile phone as a bridge
  • Allow unfettered printer access to other devices through the PC
  • …There are many more combinations. It just depends on the functionality of the devices, and the creativity of the Dart development community.
